Jayde Auston

Jayde Auston gained a HND & BEng (Hons) in Building Services Engineering in July 2008 at London South Bank University. She was also awarded the Faculty of Engineering, Science and the Built Environment (ESBE) – Annual Prize Giving Ceremony. The award was for the best performing undergraduate student in the Building Services Sustainability Acoustics Programme Area. 

As our April 2009 Alumni of the Month, Jayde was also listed as one of the top undergraduates in the UK and Ireland: "It is thanks to staff in the Engineering Systems Faculty that I find myself continuing to strive forward, for it is their belief in my ability that means I can say the following, which I never thought I ever would do. All this at the age of 24, the future is bright for someone like me, but it is the time that I have spent at LSBU that underpins my enthusiasm and drive to get better".

During her 14 year career, Jayde has led the building services design some of the most sustainable and prestigious buildings in the world, such as the 2012 Olympic Velodrome, Parkhill Development – Sheffield, Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi, numerous Zero Carbon Developments & a 60,000-seat cricket stadium for the 2020 Cricket World Cup in India. Her designs have won 15 industry awards, as well as 2 nominations for the Sterling Prize. Jayde has also designed and oversaw the construction of three Tesco Zero Carbon Stores. During her work with Tesco, she made the decision to bring her knowledge of design to existing buildings, by moving into the Real Estate sector, this was after project managing their carbon reduction programme for Tesco in 2010, in which she sort out locations & oversaw the install of 30+ different technologies, such as solar PV & rainwater harvesting across over 300 buildings.

Jayde is now an Associate Director & a member of the Global Energy & Sustainability Team Leadership, for CBRE – the largest Real Estate Company in the world, who manage the facilities of the likes of American Express globally. During her time at CBRE she has lead the Energy & Sustainability strategies, for companies such as American Express (globally) & General Electric (EU). Her role now, is to oversee data & analytics with her team of analysts who reduce energy, water, waste and carbon emissions across 12,000 buildings globally, in particular EMEA – Europe, Middle East & Africa. Jayde’s expertise is recognised globally by her clients, as well as her colleagues and she has become a go-to person in her sector, which is reinforced by the 10 Real Estate Awards, including most recently for Change Leadership.

Jayde stated “When I look back, I felt my future was bright; now I couldn’t be happier with all I have achieved and the vast opportunity that presents me and my team. I am still getting better every day and love that, especially now it is me, passing on my knowledge to my team, thanks to LSBU.”
