The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht, directed by Emma Caplan
Date: 16 - 18 Jan at 7.00pm
Venue: Edric Theatre

The Caucasian Chalk Circle (translated by Alistair Beaton) In a city ravaged by war a woman flees with all her possessions, leaving behind a child – her own child.  A simple servant girl sacrifices everything to care for the child and protects him through harsh and dangerous times as if he were her own.  Years later when the war is over the woman comes back to claim the child and a judge rules that only the test of the ‘chalk circle’ can determine who is the child’s rightful mother.  In a culture of corruption and deceit who will win?

This production is directed by Emma Caplan, artistic director of Moving Stories.
