Over 45 awards were given at the ceremony to graduates who had excelled in subjects including Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Information Technology, Corporate Governance and Public Administration. Two Marketing graduates’ achievements shone through at this year’s awards.

MSc Marketing graduate, Priya Khanijou was given the award of “Best Dissertation & Best Student.” Priya spoke to the LSBU Alumni Association about her studies and how she feels about her award:

“Receiving an email from LSBU saying I had received the award was just mind blowing. Being an international student and receiving an award in a country not your own made me feel so proud. Studying at LSBU was simply amazing and a once in a lifetime experience. From the campus, the lecturers, my classmates, to the course itself, everything contributed to where I stand today.”

After finishing her studies, Priya has gone on to work for marketing company GfK MarketWise Ltd as their Research Executive.

In addition to Priya’s award, LSBU MSc International Marketing graduate Anne-Elisabeth Coral was posthumously honoured at the ceremony. Anne-Elisabeth, who sadly passed away at the end of 2012 had her outstanding achievements recognised at the event. Anne–Elisabeth studied MSc International Marketing at LSBU in 2005–06, following a period at INSEEC Grande Ecole, Paris, one of the LSBU’s partner institutions, enabling her to graduate with a double masters from both institutions.

During her time at LSBU, Anne-Elisabeth was awarded with the prize for best dissertation in International Marketing and went on to work at beauty brand Clarins as their Digital Marketing Manager. LSBU’s Marketing staff decided to rename the award that she won in 2006 to The Anne-Elisabeth Coral prize for the best dissertation in International Marketing.

To mark the first time this award was given, this year’s lecture and prize-giving ceremony was attended by Anne-Elisabeth’s parents, Simon and Francoise Coral, as well as her classmates Ahmed Ali, Celine Lecrosnier, Julien Lubacz and Herve Soulard, who said a few words about their friend at the event. The Anne-Elisabeth Coral prize was awarded to Carmen Meier, who also won the Sage prize and the faculty prize for Student of the Year.

Anita Peleg, Course Director of MSc International Marketing, says: “It was very important for us to recognise Anne-Elisabeth’s achievements, and hope that naming the prize she won after her provides a fitting tribute to her work.”
