LSBU launches new website

The brand-new LSBU corporate website launched last week with a complete redesign, new site features, improved content, rich media and customer-focused information architecture.

The new LSBU website offers a user-friendly experience for visitors

Migrating thousands of pages from the previous site, the web team have spent ten months working to make content easily navigable from a customer perspective. Naz Hussain, Head of Marketing and Digital Communications, spoke to us about the launch: “We know from research, the first thing students consider when choosing a university is the course. So we have focused on more and better information for students by massively extending course entries. These now include information about employability, accreditation, how to apply, fees, links to ‘related/recommended’ courses, and related academics and case studies. The breadth of information is a vast improvement from any other university site we have seen.”

The new ‘Course Finder’ tool is an example of a key change to the way information is stored on the new website. Rather than putting content on ‘flat’ pages, content is organised into data repositories—groupings like ‘courses’, ‘case studies’, ‘events’ and ‘news’—so that these are dynamically pulled in to display on the page as content blocks.

More than 250 new case studies bring to life student and staff successes, research, business services and facilities, more than most other university sites. The new People Finder features 400 entries of key external-facing staff, a new tool similar to the functionality of ‘LinkedIn’.

The launch of the new website is a major milestone for LSBU based on extensive consultation with users and internal business owners. This commitment to ensuring the new LSBU website meets user needs will continue post launch through an online feedback form on the footer of every page and analysis of user behaviour. We hope you will enjoy browsing the new website and encourage alumni to let us know what you think by emailing us at alumni@lsbu.ac.uk.
