LSBU alumni invited to House of Lords

London South Bank University alumni were invited to an exclusive reception at the House of Lords on Thursday 5 June at the invitation of Baroness Perry of Southwark, former LSBU Vice-Chancellor.

Over 200 LSBU alumni and their guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the Cholmondeley Room and Terrace, overlooking the River Thames and offering stunning views of London. Guests also had the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the House of Lords following the reception.

“The House of Lords is a quintessential symbol of English history and politics,” says Wendy Graves, senior manager for alumni relations.“This was a rare opportunity to experience the history of the parliament buildings up-close and see inside this world-famous landmark. We’re delighted that the LSBU Alumni Association was able to share such an experience with our alumni and would like to thank Baroness Perry for her hospitality.”

Ethney McCulloch, Career Guidance, class of 2010

"What a fantastic venue for such an occasion. I have really enjoyed the ambience at the House of Lords, as well as hearing about the stories and successes of my fellow LSBU alumni. It’s great to see my former University doing so well.”

Monique Kranich, European Policy Studies, class of 2009

"I came from Berlin specially for this event and I’m so glad I did. I would have never had the opportunity to visit such a unique British landmark. Well done and thanks very much to the organisers."

Jeremy King, Housing and Property, class of 1986

"I was moved to hear Baroness Pauline Perry’s plea for giving financial support to LSBU and even more moved by Professor David Phoenix’s appeal for alumni to donate their time to help the University. I am interested in helping current students through mentoring. Well done to LSBU for hosting such a wonderful alumni reception."
